FAQS AND POLICIES
All your burning questions answered so you can start with a strong foundation.
How old do I have to be to train at StarCatcher?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer. The right fit depends on the student’s experience, goals, and readiness. We recommend emailing us or scheduling a general meeting so we can get to know you or your child and ensure our coaching and classes are the best fit for your needs.
Once you’ve enrolled, your space is reserved specifically for you and can no longer be offered to another student. For that reason, we do not offer refunds.
However, we understand that circumstances change. We are happy to apply a prorated credit toward another class or private coaching session, based on availability, that better fits your needs.
Do you offer classes?
Yes. We periodically offer workshops, intensives, and select classes throughout the year. However, the majority of our work centers on private coaching, audition preparation, script analysis, self-tape support, and long-term artist development.
If you’re unsure which option is the best fit for you or your child, we encourage you to email us or schedule a general meeting to discuss your goals and recommend the most appropriate path.
What do we expect from our students?
Our expectations are high because we believe in your potential. We provide a safe, supportive environment where students can learn, grow, and take creative risks. Whether we’re working together in person or virtually, we expect students to arrive prepared, engaged, and ready to challenge themselves. Every session should include a risk—something you haven’t allowed yourself to do yet. Growth happens when we step outside of our comfort zones. We expect hard work, discipline, and a commitment to the process, both during our time together and between sessions. The work doesn’t stop when the coaching ends. Preparation, reflection, and consistent practice are all part of becoming a stronger artist.
What can you expect from your students?
Truthfulness. Always.
I’ve never acted before. Where do I begin?
Everyone starts somewhere, and you don’t need experience to begin your journey as an artist. The best place to start is by scheduling a general meeting or evaluation. During our time together, we’ll discuss your goals, assess your current skill set, identify strengths and areas for growth, and create a personalized action plan designed to help you move forward with confidence. We also encourage students to become lifelong learners. Reading books on acting, storytelling, and the industry can provide valuable insight and help build a strong foundation. Be sure to check out our recommended reading list to get started.
Can you help me secure an agent?
No one can guarantee representation, and ultimately, securing an agent or manager is up to the individual artist and their team. What we can do is help you build the skills, materials, and professional habits needed to be competitive in the marketplace. We are also happy to provide guidance on navigating the representation process. Over the years, we have developed strong relationships with industry professionals and may make referrals when we believe a student is ready. Referrals are based on a student’s training, preparedness, professionalism, and active participation at StarCatcher Acting Studio.
What happens if I miss a class? Do I get a makeup?
We understand that life happens, and we want to make sure you get the most out of your training. Most classes include one excused absence. Makeup options, if available, vary by class type, enrollment, and scheduling availability. We encourage you to discuss any anticipated absences when registering so that you have a clear understanding of the attendance policy for your specific class or program.
Please note that makeup sessions are not guaranteed and are subject to availability.
Do I have to pay in full before my class, workshop, or program begins?
Yes. Tuition must be paid in full before your class, workshop, or program begins in order to reserve your spot.
Because enrollment is limited, spaces are not guaranteed until payment has been received. We strive to make the registration and payment process as simple and seamless as possible. If you have any questions about enrollment or payment, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
READY TO REGISTER FOR CLASS?
We do our very best to answer questions, but if we missed something, please get in touch with us via email.
